Mutiny Memorial Kanpur

Kanpur (Cawnpore)
Probably the most poignant day of the tour as we visit the sites of General Wheeler’s heroic defence and the subsequent massacre of the innocents. The events of Cawnpore aroused the anger and hatred of the British towards the mutineers more than any other incident and were widely reported and illustrated in the English press. In the evening we drive to Lucknow.
